Mother Night of Dreams – Hermit

Posted in DruidCraft Tarot, Journal on December 20th, 2008 by Kristine Gazel

“This card reminds us to look for a particular message in our dreams tonight. The ancients believed that our dreams on this night foretold some of the important events in the coming year”.

The DruidCraft Hermit

The DruidCraft Hermit

Hermit – The Hermit is himself a reminder of the importance of looking  inwards and turn to the Realm of Dreams and the Otherworld. He is followed by a woolf – that is he is in contact with his instincts and animal spirit. I guess this card is reminding me to look for signs of my journey and inner guidance in my dreams.

I could ask my dreams: What inner light shall I search by?

Sacred Days of Yule Spread

Posted in DruidCraft Tarot, Spreads on December 20th, 2008 by Kristine Gazel

I’ve decided to – in spite of Christmas busyness – to do the Sacred Days of Yule Spread again this year.

The Sacred Days of Yule Interpretation says: “This spread will help you to learn to apply the tarot to enjoy and enrich your passage through the twelve festive days from December 20th to 31st. The meaning of each card in the spread reflects the energy of the festivity associated with each of the twelve days.”

I’m using the DruidCraft Tarot for this spread, since it’s pagan imagery fits the idea of Yule well.

A working definition

Posted in Tarot on November 16th, 2008 by Kristine Gazel

Recently I wrote an introduction to Tarot on my danish web site page about Tarot Reading.

The writing process, that did in fact resulted in a sort of essay, gave me a clearer understanding of my own view upon the Tarot, and a working definition:

Tarot is a language of symbols, that we understand intuitively and with which we communicate with the unconsciousness to get a deeper understanding of the possibilities that lie latent in the Now.

I also understand the Tarot in terms of Energy: I think the Tarot in itself pictures different kinds and levels of energy in a symbolic form.

Therefore I see the Magician as the card that in itself symbolises or
personalizes the Tarot. Both because he master the energy – divine or unconsciouss forces – and because he has the Tarot symbols as tools on his table. He has the elements in his power.

The Magician master the Now perfectly, and he is connecting using himself as the channel of energy the heaven and the earth. He has the lemniscate
hoovering above his head, the symbol of infinity and endless possibilities. The roses and lillies symbolizes what we need to understand and have in our hearts to master the Tarot: Love and Purity.

The Magician symbolizes paradoxically both potential and manifestation at the same time. Nothing is impossible for the Magician.

The High Priestess

Posted in Tarot on November 12th, 2008 by Kristine Gazel

You are The High Priestess

Science, Wisdom, Knowledge, Education.

The High Priestess is the card of knowledge, instinctual, supernatural, secret knowledge. She holds scrolls of arcane information that she might, or might not reveal to you. The moon crown on her head as well as the crescent by her foot indicates her willingness to illuminate what you otherwise might not see, reveal the secrets you need to know. The High Priestess is also associated with the moon however and can also indicate change or fluxuation, particularily when it comes to your moods.

The Legacy of the Divine Tarot

Posted in Tarot on October 21st, 2008 by Kristine Gazel

The artist Ciro Marchetti has kindly given me permission to show some of the images from his upcoming deck The Legacy of the Divine Tarot.

I don’t know what it is about this deck, there is something really fantastic out of time quality to these images, that I have totally fallen in love with.

Here is the Moon, which is my all time favorite. And isn’t she just beautiful?

Ciro has posted a thrilling trailer, where you can learn more about the story behind this deck.

The Purity of Heart Spread

Posted in Spreads on September 30th, 2008 by Kristine Gazel

The purpose of this spread is knowing the present condition of one’s heart on a physical level, as well as on emotional and spiritual levels. It is also about purifying and healing the sorrows of the heart to be wise from one’s life experience and what stands in the way of this process of healing.

Through experience and sorrow the heart becomes wise

Through experience and sorrow the heart becomes wise

Shuffle and lay out the cards in the shape of a heart:

6          7
      8
4          5
  2     3
      1

1. What is my heart’s present physical (health) condition?
2. What is my heart’s present emotional condition?
3. What is my heart’s present mental condition?
4. What should my heart forgive and forget/let go of/close out?
5. What should my heart remember/let in/open up to?
6. What hurts my heart?
7. What heals my heart?
8. “Purity of Heart Is to Will One Thing” the Danish christian and existentialist philosopher Soren Kierkeggard said – so What is the purity of this heart – what is it that my heart most want?

(2+3: i.e. what thoughts and feelings have serious importance for my heart’s present state, my present “inner landscape”.)

The Quantum Tarot

Posted in Tarot on September 25th, 2008 by Kristine Gazel

I’ve just read a guest post on the blog Musings on the Tarot by Arwen by Kay Stopforth, author and co-creator of the beautiful Quantum Tarot.

It is interesting to read about the creative process in making and thinking this particular deck , and especially I find the merging between science and tarot quite intriguing.

Leaving a comment to the guest post on Arwen’s blog gives the opportunity to win a reading with the Quantum Tarot by Kay Stopforth.

Here is my comment:

“… the Quantum Tarot is a very exquisite and sophisticated deck, and that I can highly recommend it. When I first had it in my hands I couldn’t but feel awe of the amount of knowledge and creativity put into this work.”

What do I need to know about today?

Posted in Journal on September 23rd, 2008 by Kristine Gazel

I’m starting a tarot journal on this blog. Really private stuff I’ll keep in my private diary and my ringbinder tarotjournal, but more day-to-day readings will be posted here. Please comment, if you like.

A note on abbreviations: I’m abbreviating for example Six of Wands to 6oW, Two of Pentacles to 2oP and so on.
I’m also experimenting with creating my own understandings of the cards based on meanings of the sephiroth of the Kabbalah Tree of Life, hence the titles of the cards. This is a work in process and progress, but I’m sure to write more about it here in the blog.

10 of Pentacles

10 of Pentacles

2 of Pentacles

2 of Pentacles

6 of Wands

6 of Wands

I shuffle and draw:

6 of Wands ~
Beauty of Fire

2 of Pentacles ~ Wisdom of Earth

10 of Pentacles ~ Kingdom of Earth

Since the center card (2oP) is about carefully balancing I take it that this is about balancing my own ambitions about communication, blogging, internet (6oW) and the greater community and family I’m part of and that I am having responsibilities towards (10oP).

For my own readings I’m using the Universal Waite Tarot Deck – and therefore I’ve requested U.S. Games Inc. for permission to use the images from that deck on this site. I’ll pretty much stick to this deck.

The Moon is my favorite card.
